Everything you need to know about dividends
When does Santander pay my dividends?
Santander generally pays dividends four times a year. The dividend payment dates, made by Santander in Spain, are generally 1 February, 1 May, 1 August and 1 November.
When will I receive my dividend payment?
Santander's record date is on the last working day before the dividend payment date, which is different to most UK companies, where the record date is usually two weeks before the payment date. Your dividend will be paid approximately 10 days later if you receive your dividend directly into your bank account. If your dividend is paid by cheque, you will receive the payment about three weeks after the dividend date.
Under the terms and conditions of the nominee service, provision is given for distributions to be paid as soon as reasonably practicable after receipt by our Registrars, of the dividend funds. The dividend payment date in Spain is generally on the 1st of the month in which the dividend is paid. The money then has to be transferred to the UK and converted from euro to sterling.
There is no specific timescale set out for the distribution of payments, as a number of factors affect both the calculation and distribution of the payments. It is only once these funds are received and reconciled against the details of all shareholders in the nominee services, that actual individual dividend payments are allocated and then distributed.
Can I set up a mandate to receive my dividend payments automatically?
Yes, we can do this for you. Simply complete a dividend mandate form and return it to the address noted on the form, or, call 0871 384 2000 and they will happily send you one to complete and return. Visit the Shareholder Services section to download your dividend mandate form.
Can I have my dividends re-invested for me to buy more shares?
Yes, this can be done by opening a Santander Shareholder Account and Dividend Re-investment Plan (SSA).
