Santander to sell its stake in Banco de Venezuela

Madrid, 22 May 2009 - Banco Santander, S.A. announces that it has reached an agreement in principle for the sale of its stake in Banco de Venezuela to the Republic of Venezuela for 1,050 million dollars.The parties aim at entering into a definitive agreement and closing the transaction in early July 2009.
