Santander to rebrand its UK businesses in 2010

27 May 2009 - Abbey, Alliance & Leicester (A&L) and Bradford & Bingley savings(1) (B&B) will all become known as Santander by the end of 2010. Abbey and B&B savings will be rebranded from the first quarter of 2010 and A&L will follow later in the year, as IT changes ensure any Santander customer in the UK can transact in all its UK branches.

• All UK businesses will adopt the Santander global brand and name
• Abbey and Bradford & Bingley 1,000 branches to be rebranded from Q1 2010
• Alliance & Leicester to change by end of 2010 – taking total number of Santander branches to 1,300
• On completion of IT changes, any customer of Abbey, Alliance & Leicester or Bradford & Bingley savings can transact in all Santander’s UK branches
• We remain committed to maintaining our branch network
