Santander to sell its stake in Banco de Venezuela

Banco Santander, S.A. announced on 28th December that it has sold to the Moroccan Société Nationale d'Investissement (SNI) 10% of the share capital of Attijariwafa Bank, at a price of Dirhams 4,149.4 million (approximately EUR 367 million at current exchange rate. The operation generates for Grupo Santander a capital gain of EUR 223 million, approximately, at current exchange rate, which will not be reflected in the profit of 2009. Following the sale, Grupo Santander holds 4.55% of Attijariwafa Bank.
